Effective risk management should be based on holistic principles. Context consultants have helped a range of clients, including global blue chip companies analyse policies and procedures that touch every aspect of their operations, from the top to the bottom of the organisation, to work out if and why any procedural flaws we uncover are creating additional risk and, if so, to help clients reduce or eliminate those risks.
For example, we might examine the policies and procedures around password setting for key personnel, ensuring that IT staff configure systems so that they stipulate how often passwords should be changed and how many characters they should contain - and that staff then adhere to those guidelines. On the human resources side of the business we may be able to help organisations correct anomalies in their recruitment or leaving processes that could create risks, such as staff clearance to use particular IT systems not being discontinued promptly as soon as they leave the organisation. In every case our intention is to help clients gain a more complete and accurate view of their processes and the risks to which they may be exposed, then to help reduce risk across the organisation.
